An Italian bride tied the knot last week wearing a veil measuring a massive 1.8 miles in length and 2 metres in width. 600 people were drafted in to help carry the record breaking veil as the newlyweds travelled in their vintage wedding car after their marriage ceremony in the village of Casal di Princice, Naples.
Elena De Angelis married Ferdinand Pucci in a romantic ceremony in sun soaked Italy last week in a wedding the village of Casal di Princice is not likely to forget in a hurry. The crowds lined the streets as the wedding procession, including the 600 people drafted in to carry the veil, passed through the village streets.
After bride Elena arrived at the church for her wedding to groom Ferdinand, the 600-strong group of helpers worked quickly to carefully gather up the reams of silk before the couple stepped out of the church as husband and wife for the very first time.
The 1.8 mile veil has even made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the longest headdress ever worn by a bride on her wedding day. Designer Gianni Molaro Campania used 3.7 miles of white silk to create the record breaking veil with hundreds of seamstresses working for months to complete the work on the epic veil. The designer says he wanted his creation to symbolise hope and peace.
